Finale of the Sommerszene 2018 with Gérald Kurdian & Trk_x
HOT BODIES – STAND UP and A Queer Ball for the Hot Bodies of the Future, June 16th
The solo performance HOT BODIES – STAND UP by Gérald Kurdian provided the finale for this year’s Sommerszene. Supported by two electronic instruments – a sampler and a vocoder – in seven songs and two danced interludes he told the story of an anti-hero called Tarek X and his encounters in the course of the sexual revolutions of the 20th and 21st centuries.
For this year’s festival closing party, Gérald Kurdian joined forces with some of the most exciting queer artists in town to set up a very special edition of his ongoing touring party d’amour aka A QUEER BALL FOR HOT BODIES OF THE FUTURE! For this occasion, they pimped up the house to celebrate the joy of living and the glittery learnings of drag culture. To the beats of acid house or the synths of afro-futurist gay hip-hop, four-on-the- floor or booty shake, come, share the roots of club culture and on the way, get to unleash the flaming creatures you have at heart – was the motto! Au programme: mini-drag-ball, voguing masterclass, thrilling DJ sets and more!
We’ll be dancing for the freedom of being, the right of speech and the everlasting chance to reinvent ourselves. Dear Mama RuPaul says, “If you don’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”
