IPERNATURAL, DRODESERA XXXIX EDITION between Performing Arts & Performance Art,

A new beginning and a new year for the thirty-ninth edition of DRODESERA, the festival dedicated to performing and performance art which will be held from 19 to 27 July. Barbara Boninsegna, artistic director and founder of DRODESERA with Dino Sommadossi will broaden their collaboration and curatorship with an increasingly articulated and expanding curatorial board. Supporting her in taking care of the different sections of the festival are: Filippo Andreatta, Simone Frangi, Denis Isaia, Sara Enrico, and apap artist Alma Söderberg. Centrale Fies has been pursuing and nurturing its multi-faceted nature for almost 20 years. This was obtained also thanks to its curatorial diversity, aiming at cultivating and producing artistic and cultural biodiversity.

The Festival with the new title IPERNATURAL indicates a biological mixture of a hybrid morphology of living organisms and fossils. It rewrites taxonomic rules, widening the boundaries of reality. IPERNATURAL is the cultural and political contexts of the image we want to realise. IPER-NATURAL is also an adjective suitable for new kinds of nature, like a mutable reality in clear opposition to the pre-established order. The title of this new festival edition is a gaze shift, it is a zoom on a detail on the maps, which were drawn in the two previous editions of Supercontinent and Supercontinent2. Here, the artistic context is no longer camouflaged, nor accepts to hide in codified forms but instead it reaffirms multiplicity and aspires to high visibility. It sticks out.  IPERNATURAL indicates a biological mixture of a hybrid morphology of living organisms and fossils. It rewrites taxonomic rules, widening the boundaries of reality. Centrale Fies anticipates the festival opening with two previews. The first will be held on 21 June with the opening of Performativity, a collective exhibition curated by Denis Isaia and Sara Enrico. It is the first chapter of a trilogy on the relationship between Performance Art and the artistic object.  Dewey Dell will close the evening with their Storm Atlas - concert. The second preview will be the explosion of Orestea, right into the evening, right into the night on 30 June. The last play by Anagoor (Grand Jury Prize 2018 - La Biennale Teatro di Venezia) is an immense site-specific project able to reverse the sense of belonging to the Western culture. The hours chime with singing and dialogues and make the whole Sarca valley resound from Fies tower. The tragedy in three acts and the three installations distort our reference images and worlds: this creates a new way of experiencing the halls and courtyards of Centrale Fies.

Following apap artists are in the festival: Alma Soderberg (as curator), Michikatsu Matsune, Collective Cinetico, Alessandro Sciarroni, Ivana Mueller, Raquel Andre
