Arts Centre BUDA is a workspace for artists, a presentation platform and an art house cinema. On a yearly basis, arts centre BUDA welcomes about 150 artists who come to live and worktemporarily in Kortrijk. They have at their disposal five rehearsal studios at Budatower, two theatre venues at Budascoop, open spaces at Budafabriek, a boarding house to stay overnight and a ’YES’ team to support them. The artists in residence either present their work during one of the festival formats – BUDA VISTA!, What’s the Matter With..., and the international arts festival NEXT –, or they have
informal showings or try-outs for the “compañeros” – a group of people “in between professional eyes and audience”. Arts Centre BUDA is one of the biggest and most internationally oriented workspaces for performing arts in Belgium.
In the years of the apap programme, Arts Centre BUDA grew substantially and enlarged their impact in Europe to become one of the major art centres in Belgium. In the Performing Europe programme,
BUDA offered a constant working, meeting and presentation point for apap artists, stimulated the contact between them and fully provided their multifaceted possibilities to the programme and artists from all over. BUDA developed special formats for younger apap artists towards creating and presenting work in a professional context.
As part of the apap programme, BUDA has collaborated with the primary school of Levensboom and with ABC Brussels for an audience development programme.
